MEET THE HATTER
John Cofer, Hatter
“Originally from the southern states, I’ve always called Georgia and Tennessee home. Work projects, creative projects, and a calling to travel has taken me many places over the course of my lifetime. Being a former mixed martial artist, ceramic potter, carpenter, firefighter and finding myself in a laundry list of other odd jobs has allowed me to experience many different places and wear many different “hats”. Several opportunities as a carpenter to craft film sets are what initially brought me to southwest Montana. Eventually landing me in Livingston, Montana where I now craft hats.
An odd calling to make my “own” hats has led to a continued desire to learn about the art of hat making and to become a better hat maker. Every hat I create is blocked, stitched, sanded, and shaped by my own two hands creating a one of a kind heirloom piece. Being able to look back on my life and seeing where it has taken me has been nothing short of a whirlwind. The ability to create and share art with others has always been a life long dream of mine and I’m grateful that my journey in life has led me here.
Thank you for supporting and believing in the creators and makers.”
